3-5 AREA PARENTS NIGHT
February 26 2013
There will be a parents evening on Tuesday 26th February 2013 between 4pm and 8pm. (Please note that we have made this available for parents from 4pm for our student sector to attend directly from college).
Last year a few of our staff interviewed some parents on what their understanding of Curriculum for Excellence was. This was a taped in depth discussion which helped us to consider what parents really wanted to know in relation to the curriculum. From this we decided to run a Curriculum for Excellence Information evening. The corridor which runs adjacent to the 3-5 areas will have a number of information stations set up with a wide variety of Curriculum for Excellence topics which may interest you as a parent or carer.
Staff will man these stations and speak to you in depth and answer any questions about Curriculum for Excellence that you may have.
We will be covering a number of topics such as:
•Forest school / outdoor play
•Profiling, achievements and Reporting – We will also be using this evening as an opportunity to consult with parents and carers about our new care plans which we aim to put in place soon.
•Child consultation / Floor books
•Planning and Assessment - looking at meeting children’s needs, additional support for learning, Curriculum for Excellence Framework ( curricular areas and experiences and outcomes within these) / Long, mid and short term planning.
•National priorities within Curriculum for Excellence – Health & Wellbeing, Numeracy, Literacy / Eco programme
•Learning and teaching approaches / staff CPD.
•Improvement through Self-Evaluation
•Routines and Purposeful Play (environments, Skills, Concepts)
•Parental involvement and communication – how to get involved in your child’s learning
If you would like any further information on the evening or have any suggestions please do not hesitate to contact the nursery. We hope to see you there.
