FORREST SCHOOL
October 01 2015
Our Forest School Programme is back and will be running From October through to December and then again after the New Year.
This is led by our two qualified Forest School Leaders and a third Early Years Practitioner who will take a group of children to Barons Haugh Nature Reserve in Motherwell every week for some forest adventure over a block of 8 weeks. This programme provides some of our preschool children the opportunity to experience outdoor learning in a natural woodland environment where together they will focus on safety, establishing boundaries and routines. As the children’s confidence grows and they become more familiar with their environment the sessions will focus on providing opportunities for children to develop their life skills, confidence and self-esteem, preparing them for school.
Children will attend forest schools in all weathers, play and work as a team, build fires and cook their own snacks and lunches and build dens for shelter using variety of tools such as loppers, folding saws and knives. These are only some of the exciting opportunities which this approach involves. Your Childs keyworker will let you know if your child is being considered for forest school you will have the opportunity to attend a parent workshop and speak to these staff at length before full consent is given.
